New Planet – Off Grid Pale Ale

This is the first offering from New Planet and my last one of the three to try. Off Grid Pale Ale is made from sorghum and brown rice extract, molasses, tapioca maltodextrin, caramel color, hops and yeast. The beer is a nice amber color with a little and quickly dissipating head. This beer has a strong yeasty aroma. The mouth feel is good; the first thing I notice is the spicy hop flavor and it has a strong bitter after taste. This beer would work really well for beer batter recipes or beer bread. If you taste runs to a bitter beer, this beer is definitely for you. After having tried all three, I would have to say that in rank order for me is Tread Lightly Ale, 3R Raspberry Ale and Off Grid Pale Ale in that order.
